Senior Scientist, Gene Editing

The Role:
We are looking for an experienced scientist with a strong background in mammalian genome editing to help expand our therapeutic capabilities and continue to improve our technology discovery platform. Here’s What You’ll Do:
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot experiments to develop and improve genome editing technologies in a variety of disease areas
- Develop and optimize methods for introducing genome editing systems into human cells
- Develop assays to tie genotypic changes to therapeutically relevant phenotypic changes
- Provide scientific leadership
- Analyze experimental data and present scientific results at team research meetings
- Contribute to publications and patent applications
- Follow advancements in the field of gene editing and gene therapy published in the literature and presented at conferences
- Collaborate closely with the Computational Biology, Platform Development, and Pre-Clinical groups
- Assist coordination of research associates and day-to-day laboratory operations
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field with 5+ years of experience
- Demonstrated experience leading scientific teams
- Background in exploring therapies for metabolic diseases, inherited neurologic diseases, and/or other rare genetic disorders
- Extensive expertise culturing, transfecting, and analyzing human cell lines and primary cells
- Direct experience delivering genome editing systems to mammalian cells using multiple delivery methods including adeno-associated viruses (AAVs), Lipid Nanoparticles (LNPs), and nucleofection
- Mastery of modern molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and NGS
- Experience developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing cell-based assays and translating insights from those experiments into therapeutically relevant endpoints
- Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written)
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment
- Industry experience strongly preferred
- Participation in the preparation of INDs, NDAs or other regulatory submissions is an advantage
