HireMinds is partnered with an innovative San Francisco biotech team that is seeking your expertise in Computational Biology, Protein Design. You’ll join a team working at the interface of generative AI and synthetic biology. You will play a key role in designing and engineering proteins for specific functions, such as DNA editing and effector molecules. As a founding team member Scientist you’ll work in the computational design and development of proprietary DNA effectors. In addition you’ll be a valuable expert on computational protein design and hypothesis as part of this growing start-up organization. With your expertise in computational tools and a strong understanding of protein biochemistry, you will generate insights to improve protein functionality, operating at the interface between machine learning and experimental platform teams in a collaborative team. You’ll Bring With You:
- Prior experience in Biotech with similar computational drug development and use of computational tools and biochemistry or structural biology knowledge to design proteins.
- Ability to guide data-driven projects, generating biological insights and efficiently communicating them with cross-functional teammates.
- A track record of prior success with research projects, evidenced by publications, patents, or other impactful contributions to the scientific community.
- Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to a variety of project and leadership team members.
- Technical expertise in Leverage AI models for protein design:
- Ability to analyze protein design problems based on functional requirements, biochemistry, and sequence homology.
- Generate and optimize designs using generative AI models for experimental validation.
You’ll Bring With You:
- PhD and Industry (Biotech or Pharmaceutical experience) in computational biology, bioinformatics, machine learning, or a related field.
- Experience with generative AI applied to synthetic biology or protein engineering studies.
- Experience engineering gene-editing tools like nucleases and integrases.
- Knowledge of homology-based and structural bioinformatics.
- Previous experience scaling a young biotech company.
Salary Range: $130,000-$170,000
