Our client combines synthetic biology and machine learning to tackle age-related diseases. They are looking for a Head of Business Development to join and build out their business development capabilities. This leadership role will have the unique opportunity to be among the first hires of a groundbreaking startup, making significant contributions to curing age-related diseases.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in identifying, leading, structuring, negotiating, and closing high-value drug development partnerships
  • Strong experience in product and deal valuation, corporate development, and financial analysis 
  • Demonstrated excellence in cultivating relationships with prospective drug development partners, including large biotech and pharma companies
  • Prior leadership or executive role in business development 
  • Ability to draw on an extensive personal and professional network of relationships to generate partnership leads and to advocate for the company
  • Ability to communicate and work closely with company leadership, including the CEO and company advisors

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development for the company, with explicit milestones of instigating and closing high-value drug development partnerships 
  • Develop additional business development capabilities for the company as needed
  • Inform high-level company scientific and clinical strategy from a business and partnerships perspective
  • Communicate work clearly and report directly to team members and the CEO

Nice to have

  • Excitement about synthetic biology and AI-driven small molecule drug discovery
  • Experience with government grants and corporate M&A

Preferred qualifications 

  • 10+ years of experience in biotech/biopharma business development and either an MBA or related degree(s) in molecular biology, bioengineering, chemistry, or a related field
