Director/Senior Director, Corporate Communications

Our Cambridge, MA client is hiring a Director/Senior Director, Corporate Communications.  This new gene therapy company is committed to revolutionizing the treatment of cancer. Backed by investments from a leader in private equity and a global pharmaceutical company, they are in a period of fast growth preparing for the U.S. commercialization of a Phase 3 investigational product. 



Highlights of the role

  • Reports to the COO
  • Develop and implement strategies for product communications, media relations, corporate communications/reputation management, issues management, patient advocacy, thought leadership and employee engagement
  • Lead strategic communications and patient advocacy planning that helps build the company's reputation in the community, strengthening trust with key stakeholders and influencers and oversee key engagements and events with patient advocates
  • Provide strategic counsel to company executives
  • Manage an external agency
  • Lead all social media planning and community management of the company’s channels





  • 12+ years of pharma/biotech communications and advocacy experience with 8+ years in a corporate setting
  • Expert knowledge of the digital/social landscape, including hands-on experience leading successful programs with measurable results
  • Experience in oncology preferred
  • Knowledgeable about issues currently affecting the healthcare industry
  • Strong media contacts with healthcare industry press, including online and broadcast outlets 
  • Able to deal well in ambiguous situations
  • Capable of thinking conceptually, imaginatively, systematically and opportunistically with regard to the attainment of success in the future.
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial
  • Business acumen: skilled at connecting the dots, being proactive and providing strategic value
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree a plus
