Director, Program Management (Project Team Leader Cancer)

  HireMinds Exclusive Client is seeking your expertise in Project/Program Management in driving their oncology drug discovery programs as they usher novel cancer biology programs to the clinic.  In this role you will work with scientific project teams members in guiding programs from discovery to IND and clinical stage-gates. You will have worked in a diverse project/program leadership industry role in Biotech or Pharmaceutical setting prior as Ph.D. scientist ideally. Our client ideally values your past scientific experienced with oncology or immuno-oncology programs as it relates to their platform, but will consider other precision therapy experience.  In this unique role you will work across the companies drug discovery projects and help in guiding selected clinical candidates. You will also need to help with a variety of areas beyond scientific project/programs including Alliances, operational aspects of a future relocation of the facilities, future growth of the PM function, and with organizing reports and presenting project/program progress for KOLs and Board of Directors. You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Providing operational leadership for drug discovery of small molecule cancer therapeutics in early research to preclinical IND-enabling stages
  • Help develop and guide program strategy and selection of the development candidate
  • Track activities across lead optimization, pharmacology, toxicology and preclinical work and ability help with negotiation of CRO contracts
  • Assist with program patient selection and indication expansion and with drug supply and formulation development
  • Prepare for and present key findings to Board of Directors at regular meetings
  • Work with Alliance management team members in the preparation for any related meetings for partnered programs
  • Tracks project/program budgets and ensure proper support for programs is assigned across organization and identify any gaps in support for projects/programs
  • Prepare for and record meeting agendas, minutes and other program outcomes from meetings
  • Successfully report or suggest any positive and negative deviations on project/programs

You’ll Have The Following Qualifications & Abilities:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biology, or other scientific discipline with 7+ years industry experience preferably
  • Relevant experience of 5+ years in a Project/Program Management role with track record of leading Cross-functional teams consisting of biology, chemistry, preclinical, and other contributing functions towards IND filings
  • Experience with leading oncology programs ideally to IND stages, clinical, or beyond are valuable
  • You will bring strong interpersonal communication style to the team and help elevate the project/program function within the organization
  • An ability to influence with a humble approach to sharing team success
  • Ability to problem solve and address key conflicts with-in the normal project/program demands and adapt productive solutions
  • Ability to lead and mentor teams without direct line responsibilities
  • An urgency to work on behalf of patients in dire need of new cancer therapies
  • Exceptional written communication and presentation style is a must
  • Expert skills with MS Project or similar PM software and Microsoft Office are required
