We are currently seeking a talented and experienced individual to join our client’s dynamic team in a high-impact leadership role. This client is a small molecule oncology discovery company located in Cambridge, MA, with highly recognized founders and groundbreaking clinical trials underway.

 

As Director of Cancer Biology, you will play a crucial part in driving their early programs, overseeing a cross-functional team of internal and external scientists. This role involves proposing and evaluating new targets for their pipeline, focusing on new target ID and validation. The matrixed nature of this position provides a unique opportunity to broaden scientific expertise, collaborate with senior leadership, and contribute to their portfolio strategy.

 

The role:

  • Manage communication between internal teams for target proposals
  • Produce and evaluate target proposals in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
  • Oversee the target validation process with support from internal and external resources
  • Collaborate with senior management to shape the portfolio strategy

 

Your profile:

  • PhD in Biology or a similar field
  • 10 years of industry experience in cancer drug discovery
  • 5+ years of program and people management experience
  • Proven track record of success in cancer target identification and validation
  • Extensive expertise in leading drug development, achieving candidate selection, and managing concurrent deliverables
  • Experience managing and training scientists in target selection and discovery approaches
  • Happy to work on-site and attend in-person meetings (covid19 vaccination required)
