Our client is looking for a unique individual who loves engineering as well as biology! Are you the type of person who dances that line? 

 

You’ll use your background in hardware, software, biomaterials, and cell culture to develop and prototype new tools to help condition and test the tissue engineered products they are pioneering!   

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prototype and assemble electromechanical systems (such as bioreactors) used in tissue culture and biomanufacturing

  • Refine and innovate processes used in the development of tissue engineered constructs

  • Develop SOPs and other technical documentation for manufacturing and assembly of finished products

  • Act as internal and external SME; troubleshoot problems and train personnel on proper equipment use

  • Use your knowledge of biological/cell culture systems, biomaterials, consumables, and automation to develop novel solutions

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry standard practices and implement ongoing training for other users

  • Record laboratory experimental data in electronic notebooks and/or LIMS, and regularly present progress to internal colleagues/management and external collaborators

 

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS Degree in mechanical or biomedical engineering (or similar)

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in engineering or optimizing perfusion-based bioreactors

  • Strong background in design, CAD, 3D printing, and other methods of prototyping/fabrication 

  • Understanding of electromechanical components, such as sensors and controllers

  • Experience with cell culture and scale-up

  • Understanding of CFD and heat transfer

  • Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex information, such as engineering drawings/documentation

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to thoroughly document and keep organized notes on experimental procedures and outcomes
