Associate Director, Bioinformatics

Our Cell Therapy client in Houston, with A-List partnerships; is growing and looking to add an Associate Director, Bioinformatics to their team!  This role will play an integral part supporting the translational research in cell therapy and Lead the bioinformatics group to develop innovative solutions with the guidance of the Senior Director. The primary role of this position is to implement and improve bioinformatics algorithms for neoantigen hunting, TCR identification and biomarker discovery. The candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to derive novel insights from whole exome sequencing, RNA-Seq and single-cell RNA/TCR/ATAC sequencing data and other types of data.  In addition, this role will:


  • Independently design and implement statistical algorithms for integrative analysis of multi-omics clinical sequencing data to address biological questions and search clinically useful biomarkers
  • Evaluate new statistical/machine learning algorithms for the analysis of single-cell sequencing data from the 10X platform
  • Visualize, interpret and present scientific results
  • Analyze datasets from literature or public databases to validate or support the team’s discoveries or ideas




  • PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics or relevant fields & 4+ years of experience on the analysis of next generation sequencing (NGS) data
  • Publications of statistical algorithms/data mining in bioinformatics is a big plus
  • Proficiency in Bash, R or Python and familiarity of Linux-based computing environment
  • Solid understanding of the NGS technologies, especially whole exome sequencing and RNA-Seq; expertise in single-cell sequencing data analysis is a plus
  • Proficient knowledge of cancer genomics, including raw read alignment, somatic mutation calling and annotation, gene expression, pathway, regulatory network
  • Clear understanding of cancer genetics and tumor immunology
  • Demonstrated expertise in dimensionality reduction, data visualization and clustering algorithms in high-dimensional spaces
  • Expertise in HLA-typing and neoantigen prediction is preferred
