Want to work in a stable and growing academic Vivarium in the heart of Boston?  Our client is looking to hire an experienced Technician to monitor and participate in the daily care of laboratory animals.

The main function of this role is to fulfill the nutritional, health, and environmental requirements of the animals as directed under the supervision of the Vivarium leadership.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
•  Performs assigned duties such as, administration of medications, injections, fecal and tissue collections, phlebotomies, and euthanasia.
•  Support investigators during pre, intra and post surgery as needed.  
•  Assist in the training of investigators and staff in the proper handling of animals, aseptic surgical techniques, injection, anesthesia and breeding.
•  Proper care and use of surgical equipment and supplies.
•  Maintains medical records of animals as required by Federal and State Laws.

Qualified candidates will and AS degree or higher in a lab animal setting (research, industry, or CRO environments welcome) and 1 - 3+ years of experience. Those with Veterinary Technology license or certification (LVT or CVT) preferred and AALAS Certification is a plus. 

Must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely to be considered and must be commutable to the Cambridge area or able to relocate with very limited assistance.

Want to work in a stable and growing academic Vivarium in the heart of Boston?  Our client is looking to hire an experienced Technician or someone already at the Supervisor level to work closely with the Vivarium Managers, Director, and Consulting Veterinarians to ensure the facility meets all applicable regulations and AAALAC Guidelines when applicable.

The main function of this role is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Vivarium operations spread across more than one building.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
•  Animal handling and veterinary health assessments on a variety of laboratory species including USDA regulated species.
•  Surgical, technical, and/or anesthesia support for research studies or animal health and wellness.   
•  Interact with research staff, users, and vivarium staff in a professional, customer-service mindset and work collaboratively to resolve issues or resource conflicts.

Qualified candidates will have an AS degree or higher and 3-5+ years of experience in laboratory animal research in an academic or industrial research environment.  LATG certification preferred; CVT or LVT licensure a plus.  Prior Supervisory experience preferred but not required to be considered.

Experienced lab animal medicine role in surgical research facility is now open at one of the top biomedical research institutions in Boston! If you have a passion for working with animals in support of biomedical research in multiple fields like neuroscience, cardiology, oncology, rare disease, etc. and are looking to get your foot in the door with one of the best Lab Animal Medicine programs in New England, then you need to send a resume now before they fill this position. This position requires previous experience with anesthesia and surgical support.

The main function of this role is to provide technical assistance/support with anesthesia and surgical procedures for a variety of laboratory animals, mostly large animals like pigs, sheep, rabbits, etc.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist veterinarians or investigators in various surgeries and treatment protocols

• Prepare and sterilize surgery packs

• Administer medications and provide pre/peri/post-surgical monitoring

• Sanitation of the facilities and maintenance of associated sterile equipment.

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

• Associate's Degree or higher in Veterinary Science/Technology, Animal Science, or related field

• Minimum of 2+ years of related experience in clinical/private practice or research settings

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without accommodations

• Certifications are a plus such as: ALAT, LAT, LATg, SRS, or SRT
