Our client is a large research institution in Boston with a complex and diverse Lab Animal Medicine program. This role will be part of a centralized department that is tasked with providing facilities, services, and information to facilitate effective research using laboratory animals at the institution.

This is a great opportunity to join a well-respected and well-trained staff. The department has consistently had low turnover and everyone is encouraged to develop their career through certifications and/or participation in industry events.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
•  (50%) - Monitoring health and providing clinical care to laboratory animals and assist investigative staff in technical services (injections, blood collection, euthanasia, etc.)
•  (30%) - Supporting the centralized breeding facility including; meeting with investigators, discussing colony management, setting-up breeding pairs, collecting samples for genotyping, tattooing, and creating weekly reports to the investigators. 
•  (20%) - Compliance and Training; ensure compliance with facility regulations and expectations and state and federal regulations governing the use of animals in research for animals housed at this institution. Assist with the federally mandated program for teaching humane animal use procedures including conducting investigator training seminars and wetlab sessions on a monthly basis.  Actively participates in interdepartmental and continuing education seminars and assist in a training program for DLAM personnel.

Qualified candidates will have an AS degree or higher (BS preferred) in Veterinary Sciences with 1+ year of experience in a lab animal medicine environment. Entry-level candidates with only internship experience or non-degreed candidates with appropriate lab animal medicine experience will also be considered. AALAS certifications recommended.

Must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely to be considered.  This role will be based in Boston, MA. Unfortunately, no relocation assistance is available at this time.
