Our client is a medical device and pharmaceutical Contract Research Organization (CRO) in the suburbs of Boston.  They are expanding their Pathology Department to meet customer demand and are looking to hire an experienced Pathology Supervisor or Manager to lead a tight-knit team.  Come join experienced Toxicologists and Pathologists on the team as they grow and expand into other therapeutic areas.

The main function of this role is to provide operational management for pathology labs, staff, and facilities/equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
•  Project scheduling including day to day duties and assignments, and all GLP laboratory functions.
•  Generation of timelines for lab functions, tasks and deliverables, including projections for slides, reports, data submissions, and archival processes.
•  Ongoing assessment and setting of project priorities. 
•  Oversight of equipment maintenance schedules and development of training modules and staff training records per GLPs guidelines.
•  Development of operational plans for procurement of pathology equipment and  development of novel techniques/methodologies.   
•  Coordination of intra- and interdepartmental functions:
•  Integration of necropsy, histopathology, immunostaining, SEM, and imaging functions within Department of Pathology.
•  Communication with Study Directors, Sponsors, Contracts team, and Business Development.
•  Supervision, mentoring, and training for technicians in all areas of pathology.  
•  Ensuring timely and quality generation of data in compliance with GLP guidelines and applicable regulations, with generation of appropriate documentation of deviations and incidents.
•  Lead pathology role in review and development of SOPs and study protocols.

Qualified candidates will have a BS degree or higher in a life science discipline and 5+ years of experience in Pathology/ Histopathology laboratory management. Experience in GLP lab required with preference for those with specialty skills in development of novel histopathology laboratory methods.  HT or HTL (ASCP) certification preferred.

Must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely and must be commutable to the suburbs of Boston or able to relocate without assistance to be considered.

Senior Scientist, Vector Biology

Our client is a highly-regarded cell/gene therapy company in the greater Boston area and they are seeking an experienced, highly-motivated Senior Scientist to join their Vector Biology team to identify and develop novel strategies for lentiviral vector development.  You will be responsible for coaching a team of associate scientists and working cross-functionally with stem cells and immunotherapy. The main function of this role is to exercise independent judgment in development of new methods, techniques and evaluation criteria of lentiviral production.

Responsibilities:

  • Small scale lentiviral vector production and purification for internal customers
  • Design and cloning of novel lentiviral vectors
  • Innovate and optimize lentiviral vector function

Requirements:

  • PhD in biological sciences with 5+ years post-doctoral experience in gene therapy applications
  • Proficiency with lentiviral vector design and production; familiarity with multiple vector platforms is a  plus (AAV, adenovirus, non-viral)
  • Experience with bioreactor and protein/vector purification
  • Expertise is managing a team

Our Global Biologics client is looking to add a Principal Data Scientist to their team to support their Immuno-Oncology programs here in Cambridge, MA!  It is an exciting time to be a part of the Discovery teams!  This role will help with designing experiments, manage data, and use advanced statistical, machine learning, as well as computational techniques to discover new targets either to stop the growth of cancer or re-awaken the immune system to eradicate the cancer. Furthermore, the Data Scientist will collaborate with Early Development teams to guide the development of molecules against those targets with data-driven biomarker plans.  Other responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work with project teams to define scientific questions that can be addressed with an appropriately powered experimental designs
  • Supply any computational, statistical, machine learning, or modeling capability needed to synthesize from this design actionable recommendations relative to the team’s question
  • In collaboration with project teams, propose analysis strategies for target discovery, using methods based for instance on differential expression, co-regulation, correlated amplification, recurrent alterations, etc.; in so doing, also help devise statistical metrics for deciding significance, and ranking schemes for integrating data from many sources
  • Identify targets and biological contexts (e.g., T or B-cell repertoire, immune phenotypes, copy number, mutational, or expression signatures) in which therapies are likely to be beneficial by mining immune, genetic, genomic or screening data
  • Identify from patient and model system databases the epidemiology of these biological contexts and targets
  • Develop biomarker plans (e.g., selection, PD, efficacy) in collaboration with project teams
  • Manage and develop group of one or more associates and/ or contractors

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in a computational, statistical, biophysics, or bioinformatics related fields.
  • A minimum of 8+ years project-based work in computational application to biology related fields, preferably Immuno-Oncology
  • Statistical programming skills like SAS/S-plus, R/Bioconductor and pipeline pilot or equivalents
  • Excellent understanding of immunology and hands-on research experience investigating complex lymphoid and/or myeloid cell subsets
  • First-hand multi-parametric data mining experience for target identification and biomarker discovery. For example, multivariate analysis; dimensionality reduction methods; parametric and non-parametric statistical methods; Bayesian statistics; pattern recognition or classification methods.
  • First-hand experience at integrating publicly or commercially available genetic, genomic, and immune datasets with novel experimental data to identify testable hypotheses
  • Developed communication and presentation skills and a successful track record of collaborating with cross-functional project teams
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects of moderate scope, mapping-out critical path, milestones and timelines, as well as manage customer expectations with minimal supervision

•  Work collaboratively/cross-functionally and use viral vectors to genetically modify T lymphocytes.?
