Our client is a Fortune 1000 company with broad capabilities in filtration, separation and purification.  They are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers with strong design skills to join a small design-focused group at their growing site in the suburbs of Boston.  

The main function of this role is to design customized bioprocessing equipment using 3D CAD, Solidworks, and other design packages to support current and new customers in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and food & beverage industries.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
•  Recommend custom designs by evaluating customer process requirements (through direct contact with customer or through sales rep). Present design concepts through sketches, renderings, CAD models, controlled drawings and reports. Create CAD layouts and of new products for customer review. 
•  Help determine the practicality of the solutions and feasibility relative to performance, cost, and schedule. Coordinate with team of engineers off-site to establish basic design approach ensuring they are on time and within budget. Fit and functional performance evaluation. Make engineering prototype samples to facilitate quick customer design evaluations. 
•  Provide and oversee the custom product manufacturing project and maintain project plans.
•  Documentation of engineering drawings, revision history, using SAP (ECO, ECR) according to good drafting standards, geometric tolerances, etc.

Qualified candidates will have a BS or MS degree in Mechanical/Polymer/Chemical or related Engineering discipline and a minimum of 3-5+ years of experience for an Engineer title.  The Hiring Manager is also looking for more experienced candidates for Senior Engineer positions (8+ years of experience).  Must have experience designing plastic and/or stainless steel components using 3-D CAD software.  Preference given to those with success in taking components through concept, development and into production. 

Must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely to be considered and must be commutable to the Cambridge area or able to relocate with very limited assistance.
