Boston biotech that was just granted FDA clearance to market a prescription product to aid in weight management is looking for a Head of Communications.  Six out of 10 people lost an average of 10% of their body weight in clinical trials.  The market is primed for disruption and this person will play a key role on the team that will make this happen.  The Head of Communications will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the COO, CMO, and other senior team members to develop and execute strategic communications programs.  

You will lead all communications activities, which includes

  • Developing and implementing internal and external communications plans
  • Supporting Medical Affairs on data communications
  • Developing and fostering relationships with media and influencers, identifying opportunities for the company to tell its story
  • Leading corporate and product candidate-specific communications materials, including press releases, Q&A documents, presentations, fact sheets, and briefing documents
  • Preparing leaders for speaking opportunities and media interviews
  • Developing content for and managing all digital properties including the website and social media channels

Profile

  • 8+ years of life science/biotech communications, ideally from a public company
  • Skilled in data communications and familiar with FDA regulations and promotional guardrails
  • Strong business acumen and proficient with scientific concepts
  • Experience shaping a brand and establishing dialogue with key stakeholders
  • Developed and implemented issues management and crisis management programs and plans
  • Executive level poise, polish, presence and influence

Our Cambridge, MA life sciences company is hiring a Director of Corporate Communications.  The Director will report into the SVP of Communications and IR and will manage one direct report.  The client is looking for someone who has a life sciences background (preferably) or comes from the technology industry.

This role is exciting because you will be involved in corporate, IR, internal, and executive communications as well as crisis planning and issues management.  You’ll play a key role in developing strategies and owning implementation.  If you like variety in your work and exposure to the most senior leaders of a company, this could be the role for you.

The role includes

  • Boosting the company’s visibility and enhancing its reputation to reach and attract key audiences, including investors, media, potential employees, KOLs, patients for clinical trials, advocacy groups, etc.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with print, digital/social and broadcast media in business and analyst communities
  • Managing the annual report and leading the complete overhaul of the company’s website
  • Overseeing external agencies and vendors
  • Ensure consistent messaging across all communications vehicles

Profile

  • 10+ years of corporate and/or IR communications experience from the life sciences or technology industries
  • Track record of developing proactive communications strategies, programs and tactics to ensure the unique voice of the company
