Our client is a premier research institution based in Cambridge, focused on human pathogens and immunity.  They are seeking an experienced Lab Animal professional to join their lab and perform a variety of hands-on in vivo procedures (blood draws, tissue collection, engraftment studies, etc.) and be an active participant in the in vivo research.  You need to bring the experience in a lab animal environment (AALAS certification a plus) and this group will give you the training and opportunity to make the jump from lab animal medicine to in vivo/vitro research.  Brilliant science, the opportunity to learn, and a group willing to train you on cell & molecular biology techniques and in vivo research - start the New Year in a new job!

The main function of this role is to characterize HIV-specific immunity and HIV reservoirs in humanized mice (BLT and HSC+ mice), and to study the efficacy of both contemporary and novel HIV vaccine concepts to block HIV infection and eradicate HIV reservoirs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
•  Pre-procedural preparations and care of animals, anesthesia administration and/or monitoring, vaccinations, facial/retro-orbital blood draws, etc. 
•   Injection of human cells into immunodeficient mice and routine monitoring, blood draws, injections and vaccination of immunodeficient mice
•   Work in both BSL1 and BSL2 environments including processing of blood and tissue samples for experimental work

Formal descriptions can be supplied for interested candidates. 

Qualified candidates will have an AS or BS degree or higher in Veterinary Science or related discipline and 2+ years of experience in a rodent experimental setting.  AALAS certifications preferred but not required.  Experience with tissue processing, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry preferred.

Must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely to be considered and must be commutable to the Cambridge area or able to relocate with very limited assistance.
